Archival Documents about FIAF's Periodicals Indexing Project (P.I.P.)
The driving force behind the idea of a coordinated project of film periodical indexing was the FIAF Documentation Commission (created in 1969). In 1971, Commission member Karen Jones of Denmark presented the proposal to establish the Periodicals Indexing Project at the FIAF Congress in Wiesbaden. She became the first Editor when the P.I.P. was launched the following year. Since then, three other P.I.P. Editors have followed in her footsteps: Michael Moulds, Frances Thorpe, and Rutger Penne. After being hosted by the Danish Film Museum in Copenhagen for one year, the central P.I.P. office moved to London, where it was located for many years in different premises until 1996, when it merged with the FIAF Secretariat in Brussels.
