24-Hour Home Movie Marathon

27 October 2019, worldwide

Home Movie Day, an annual celebration many FIAF affiliates participate in each year, is planning a special event to coincide with this year’s World Day of Audiovisual Heritage on 27 October 2019. “Home Movie Day and Night: The 24-Hour Home Movie Marathon” will webcast home movies online for 24 hours, with one hour devoted to films from each major time zone around the world.  As the day progresses, viewers will be able to follow along with the program as it moves around the world.

The event, which will be administered by the Center for Home Movies in the U.S., will showcase films from partner organizations within each region that highlight the range of home movies and the preservation efforts that have been undertaken by archives. Please consult this PDF with more information on the project, including ways to get involved and contribute home movies from your institution's collection for this special event.

At its meeting in Lausanne last April, the FIAF Executive Committee decided to fully support this event and agreed to help promote it via the FIAF channels of communication.
