2020 FIAF Film Restoration Summer School

8 June update: due the international health crisis caused by Covid-19 we regret announcing that the 2020 FIAF Film Restoration Summer School has been postponed until next year. Selected participants will be kept informed of any upcoming news. 


Film restoration online theory course / distance learning: 29 April to 10 June (on Wednesdays)

Theory lectures and Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival: Bologna, 20-27 June

Restoration practice classes: Bologna, L’Immagine Ritrovata, 29 June to 10 July

FIAF has awarded 5 scholarships to the following candidates:

The ACE awarded 5 scholarships to the following candidates:

- Marko Turkus (Slovenia)     
- Sophie Tupholme (United Kingodm)    
- Markus Maicher (Austria)    
- Paulo Cartaxo (Portugal)    
- Katarzyna Balcerowska (Poland)


FIAF, the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE), Cineteca di Bologna, and  L’Immagine Ritrovata are pleased to announce that the ninth FIAF Film Restoration Summer School will take place during summer 2020 in Bologna, confirming the good results of their long lasting cooperation. Since 2007 these institutions have been promoting an ideal of shared knowledge in the field of film restoration offering the opportunity to specialists, film archive staff and students to experience the complete restoration workflow through the use of photochemical and digital technologies in a two-decade experienced film restoration laboratory.
