Presentation of the course

In March 2022, FIAF will join forces with the Cinémathèque française and the Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé once again to offer a short training course (in English and French) aimed at professionals in FIAF archives and beyond. The general theme of this specialized course is still "Programming Film Heritage", and will once again be taught by programming experts from the global network of FIAF archives and other distinguished professionals in a relevant field. This 7th edition of the Winter School will take place on-site only, at the Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé on Monday 28 March, and at the Cinémathèque française on 29 March 2022, just before the "Toute la mémoire du monde" festival at the Cinémathèque française (30 March-2 April).

The full schedule is now available here. The different thematic sessions over the two days of the 7th Winter School will be as follows:

  • Teaching film heritage programming at university / Enseigner la programmation de films de patrimoine à l’université

Note that presentations will be delivered in English or French, with simultaneous translation available throughout the course.

COVID-19 Context

The organizers of the 2022 Winter School are watching developments regarding COVID-19 closely, as our primary concern remains the health and safety of the participants in our training events, so we assure you that every possible step will be taken make this Winter School a fully safe event for all those taking part in it.

In case you'll be travelling from abroad, we obviously strongly encourage you to check entry rules and other public health measures and restrictions currently in place in France before you register and start booking your trip and accommodation. As things currently stand in France, a vaccination pass is required in the venues that will host the Winter School. The vaccination pass consists of presenting, in digital or paper form, a vaccine certificate showing full vaccination, or a certificate of recovery from COVID (from 11 days to 6 months prior), or a certificate of medical reasons for not being vaccinated vaccination pass. Of course, these protective measures are likely to change over the next few weeks, and we remain optimistic that the pandemic situation will develop favourably by the end of March.

After much discussion about the possibility of holding the Winter School 2022 in a hybrid version (i.e., both on-site and online), the organizers decided that this option could not be offered this year. However, the different sessions will be filmed and made available (a few days after the event) to those who are interested but cannot be present in Paris at the end of March.
