FOCAL International Awards

The FOCAL International Awards celebrate achievement in the use of footage in all variety of genres, across
all media platforms plus its restoration. Producers, filmmakers and other creative professionals who have
used library or archival footage in all varieties of form, including through documentary or feature film
productions, as well as any other form of production or across all media platforms during the calendar year
of 2018 are invited to submit their work for consideration. The competition also recognises the researchers,
technicians and producers that access, maintain and use this precious resource with Awards on the night for
best archive researcher, footage company and individual as well as accomplishments in film and television
restoration work.

These awards are the leading and most complete set of awards for the archive footage industry in the world
today. The 2019 competition is the 16th FOCAL International Awards.

Following the success of the 2018 Awards Gala, the FOCAL International Awards will be returning to the
Grade II listed Art Deco venue. The Troxy is an iconic venue and by locating the organisation’s flagship event
at this venue, FOCAL pay tribute to London’s rich cinema heritage. The Troxy is also the home to Europe’s
largest Wurlitzer organ – a fine accompaniment to FOCAL’s unique awards ceremony.

16 Production, Restoration/Preservation and Personnel Categories are open to consideration by an
international jury drawn from the archive, footage and wider creative industries.
All submissions to each award category, except the personnel categories, will be charged an entry. As a notfor-
profit trade organisation, FOCAL charge an entry fee in order to cover the costs of delivering the
competition and awards gala.
