FIAF Moving Image Cataloguing Manual

The FIAF Moving Image Cataloguing Manual, which will be freely available on the FIAF website in late 2015, is a revision of the 1991 FIAF Cataloguing Rules for Film Archives. The Manual, created by the FIAF Cataloguing and Documentation Commission and the FIAF Cataloguing Rules Revision Working Group, is designed to help moving image cataloguers respond to the changes in cataloguing practices our field has experienced in recent years. These new guidelines will help cataloguers create cataloguing or metadata records that will meet requirements of new database technologies and new metadata standards while remaining compatible with older methods and standards. We shall also continue to provide free access to PDFs of the 1991 Cataloguing Rules HERE.

The online nature of this publication will lend itself to regular updating and revision. We hope to respond to users’ suggestions and incorporate improvements regularly, so users are encouraged to submit comments by emailing the FIAF Secretariat.
