News

The “News” section is a short term information tool that completes the Journal of Film Preservation, and that circulates the information as soon as it becomes available and is processed by the Editors of the website at the FIAF Secretariat. It is subdivided into a FIAF News sub-section (news from Affiliates and from the Secretariat), and Other News sub-section (news from the non-FIAF sister organisations, moving images industry and commerce, as well as from other information considered as useful to the Affiliates by the Editors) and an News Archives sub-section (that includes the articles that after a suitable time pass from the main two sections to this News Archive).

All relevant information may be submitted to the Editors of the website by E-mail. The text should not exceed 120 words and should be illustrated by one or two photographs. The Editors are entitled to change the submitted texts.


		30/10/2011 FIAF Award honours a Japanese star
		The 2011 FIAF Award was presented to veteran Japanese actress Kyoko Kagawa in Tokyo on the 24th of October 2011 by FIAF Secretary General Meg Labrum and FIAF Vice President Hisashi Okajima at a ceremony preceding the screening of A Story From Chikamitsu (Mizoguchi,1954).

		27/10/2011 UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage - 27th October 2011
		The FIAF Executive Committee encourages the FIAF affiliates to celebrate the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage every year on 27th October, day of the adoption of the UNESCO Recommendation for Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Image adopted on 27th October 1980, in Belgrade.

		15/10/2011 Main Decisions taken during the EC meeting held in Pordenone, 3-4 October 2011
		The 2011 autumn session of the FIAF Executive Committee (EC) took place on 3-4 October 2011 in Pordenone (Italy) during the 30th Giornate del Cinema Muto. Original notes were taken by Sylvia Frank; the present report, based on these notes and the audio recordings, was written by Christophe Dupin.

		La FIAF a le plaisir d’annoncer la nomination de Christophe Dupin au poste d’Administrateur Délégué de son Secretatariat à Bruxelles, un poste occupé depuis seize ans par Christian Dimitriu. Il prendra ses fonctions au Secretariat dès le lundi 18 juillet 2011.

		15/07/2011 FIAF Secretariat in Brussels - Appointment of Christophe Dupin to the position of Senior Administrator
		FIAF is pleased to announce the appointment of Christophe Dupin to the position of Senior Administrator of the FIAF Secretariat in Brussels, a position held by Christian Dimitriu for the last 16 years. His first day in the office will be Monday 18th July.
