Nikolai Borodachev (1948-2020)

 

Nikolai Borodachev, the former director general of Gosfilmofond of Russia, died on 11 April 2020 at the age of 71.

Nikolai Borodachev was born on 22 June 1948 in a village in the Republic of Mordovia, USSR. At 17 he started his career as a film projectionist. In 1969 he graduated from the Leningrad film technical school, and in 1982 from the Dushanbe pedagogical college. He spent more than twenty years in Tajikistan first as a projectionist, later as the director of one of the cinemas in Dushanbe. From 1983 to 1992 he was the deputy director of the Tajik Republican Film Distribution Office, and in 1992 - 1993 served as the deputy director of the Tajik State Committee for Cinematography.

In 1998 he started working in the administration of Gosfimofond of Russia, and in 2001-2018 served as the archive's director general. In 2018 - 2020 Nikolai Borodachev was the first deputy head of the Russian Union of Filmmakers.
