How to join FIAF ?
The International Federation of Film Archives currently brings
together more than 151 institutions in over 77 countries which
collect, restore, exhibit, and document films over the entirety
of motion picture history. By becoming part of FIAF you will
have access to benefits such as film loans, free subscription
to the JOURNAL
OF FILM PRESERVATION, major discounts on all FIAF
publications, and information regarding ongresses, symposia
and workshops. Perhaps most importantly, you become part of
an international network of technical advice and information
exchange among the world's largest association of moving image
archives.
Formal details about the procedures for candidates to follow are given in Rules 2 to 12 of the STATUTES AND RULES of the Federation. Applicants are required to commit themselves formally to respecting the Statutes and Rules when they seek affiliation to the Federation.
Please use the admission questionnaire, when you are ready to proceed with your application.
The Executive Committee, which is in charge of examining new
candidatures, meets twice a year, usually in April and November.
In order to be examined during one of these meetings, your
application file - which must be complete - should reach the
Secretariat in Brussels at least one month in advance of the
next Executive Committee meeting. We ask you to submit your
file in four copies.
Please note that it is very important that applicants address all the issues described in Rule 2: incomplete applications, as already stated, can not be considered by the Executive Committee. You should not return your Questionnaire without either providing all of the documents asked for or offering alternative evidence on these subjects. There is a checklist in the Questionnaire, and notes explaining the purpose of some of the requirements.
