AEC Film Preservation Workshop 2017

The 2016 Workshop

Film Archive (Public Organization) in collaboration with FIAF are organizing the second edition of the AEC Film Preservation Workshop from Monday 19 – Friday 23 June 2017, for individuals from countries of the EAC (ASEAN Economic Community). It will take place at Film Archive (Public Organization) in Salaya, Thailand and will be conducted in English.

The mentors in this edition will be David Walsh (Imperial War Museums), Reto Kromer (reto.ch) , Rachael Stoeltje (Indiana University Libraries Moving Image Archives), and the staff of Film Archive (Thailand).

The workshop will cover both theory and practice of these following topics:

* Archive Management and Policy
* History of Film Technology and Production Route

* Film Preservation
* TV and Videotape History and Preservation
* Digital Infrastructure
* Scanners and Scanning and Restoration Ethics
* Sound Technology and Digitalization
* Disaster Recovery / Rescue
* Digital Preservation
* Access
* Making a Business Plan for Preservation Project

Film Archive will provide the accommodation for the selected participants from 18 – 24 June 2017. Lunches and tea breaks will be provided during the workshop. The one dinners provided will be the welcoming and closing dinners.


Film Archive will sponsor the flight ticket for two distinguished candidates.
