The Spring session of the FIAF Executive Committee (EC) took place at the Norwegian Film Institute in Oslo on April 30 to May 2 and on May 8, 2010. The main decisions have been drafted by the Secretariat and approved by the Executive Committee, as follows.

The Bulgarian National Film Archive announced that on 8th June 2010, Mr. Plamen Maslarov, director of the BNF, passed away.

The Heritage Award of the National Society of Film Critics Awards (USA) was given to the restoration of Akira Kurosawa's RASHOMON (1950) on Sunday 3rd January, 2010. The recipients are the Academy Film Archive, National Film Center (Japan) and the Kadokawa Pictures (Japan).

Ms. Elvira Diamanti was appointed as Director of the Albanian Film Archive on December 30, 2009 by Mr. Ferdinand Xhaferrithe, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports. Ms. Diamanti is the successor of Mr. Artan Minarolli, who is now appointed as Chairman of the National Film Center of Albania.

During it's meeting held in Toulouse on November 13-15, 2009, the FIAF Executive Committee has unanimously decided to present the 2010 FIAF Award to Ms Liv Ullmann. The FIAF Award ceremony will take place at the Oslo Town Hall on May 3rd 2010. Other details will be circulated at a later stage.

In Toulouse, the Executive Committee examined the applications received at the FIAF Secretariat. As a result of the discussions, two candidates were unanimously accepted as FIAF Affiliates.

In January 2009, the DOVLAT FILM FOND / STATE FILM FOND, has moved to the new contemporary 5 floor building, built specially for the film archive. The new building consists of 20 film repositories which can contain 300 000 boxes with films.

The 65th FIAF Congress, organized by the Fundación Cinemateca Argentina (FCA) at the Centro Teatral San Martín (CTSM), has been a great success and offered the opportunity for the FIAF Community and its friends to celebrate the creation of the FCA 60 years ago in Buenos Aires.

It is with great sorrow that the Staff Members of the Slovenian Cinematheque has received today the sad news of the passing away of Director Silvan Furlan at the age of 51.

On April 19th Gianni Comencini died in Milan. He was 84 years old, years dedicated to the love of cinema. He was the president of the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana, of which he was the founding father in 1947.
