In January 2009, the DOVLAT FILM FOND / STATE FILM FOND, has moved to the new contemporary 5 floor building, built specially for the film archive. The new building consists of 20 film repositories which can contain 300 000 boxes with films.
Each film repository has its special regime of storage for different form of movie materials.
There are all conditions for storing of photo documents and other archive materials in the new building. There are two film auditoriums equipped with contemporary movie equipements in the archive.
In February 2010, contemporary equipments restoration will enter into the archive from France. These equipments will make it possible to perform restoration work on the restoration of films at higher level.
Within 2009, the film archive restored 20 artistic and 34 documentary films. In addition the archive carried out the restoration of more than 600 photographs connected with the history of cinematography. In 2009, the archive was supplemented by documentary movie materials on 16mm to motion picture film in a quantity of 80 boxes. Among the entered archive materials, there are a lot of military and historical chronicle items about World War II.
The archive performs great work through propaganda of world and national cinematography. More than 43 measures and the photo exhibitions dedicated to cinematography were carried out in the present year. The Film archive togther with the television monthly prepares telecasts dedicated to cinematography.
The discovery of children's cinema house took place recently in the film archive. In this cinema house for children there monthly will be meetings with beloved actors, heroes of films for children, and screenings of movie for children.
Children's film qchool will be opened in the orphanage where children will be able to get knowledge in the field of cinema for children.
Mr. Jamil Guliev, Director of STATE FILM FOND of Azerbaidjan, want to stress out that the small association of his film archive is full of forces and energy which will be directed to the development of cinematography.
