It is with great sorrow that the Staff Members of the Slovenian Cinematheque has received today the sad news of the passing away of Director Silvan Furlan at the age of 51.

On April 19th Gianni Comencini died in Milan. He was 84 years old, years dedicated to the love of cinema. He was the president of the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana, of which he was the founding father in 1947.

FIAF has launched the Reel Emergency Project, a cooperative venture aimed at providing a small but concrete assistance to those archives whose national film heritage is in a state of extreme or or terminal danger.

The Imperial War Museum is pleased to announce that the catalogue of its Film and Video Archive is among the collections databases that can now for the first time be searched over the IWM website.

Several FIAF meetings took place at the Norsk Film Institutt in Oslo on 24-28 September 2002: the FIAF Executive Committee meeting, a seminar on the 2003 FIAF Stockholm-Helsinki Congress, a seminar “Archiving the Future” (in the Film Teknikk Norge A/S premises) and the Nordic Archives meeting.
